Squirrl Nut Sipper
Backstory:
As I wandered around the liquor store searching for a new whiskey to try it suddenly occurred to me that while I had made cocktails for the channel I had never made a squirrel-themed one. Thus the idea to make a nut-centric cocktail was born.
Ingredients:
1 oz rye whiskey
1/2 oz amaretto (almond liqueur)
1/2 oz Frangelico (hazlenut liqueur)
1/2 oz Praline (pecan liqueur)
3 dashes black walnut bitters
Ice (for shaking)
Ingredients, Garnish:
finely chopped toasted pecans or another nut (bonus points for spicy caramelized nuts)
Optional:
4 oz cashew milk (or other nut milk) for Collins version
Ice
Method, Up:
Rim an up glass with simple syrup and chopped nuts.
Add ice and all remaining ingredients to a shaker.
Shake violently until well chilled.
Strain into up glass. Serve.
Method, Collins:
Rim a Collins glass with simple syrup and chopped nuts.
Fill the Collins glass with ice being careful not to disturb the nut rim.
Add ice and all remaining ingredients including 4 oz of nut milk to a shaker.
Shake violently until well chilled.
Strain into Collins glass. Optionally you can strain into a secondary container and then pour over ice in the Collins glass. Serve with a straw if desired.
