Clements Sunrise
Backstory:
I developed this cocktail for a co-worker who was retiring. It was a surprise so I had to go around behind her back asking friends what she liked to drink. After some detective work I settled on this recipe and she was thrilled with the results. She said, “It has all the things I like!”. Cathy Clements worked at ARIN for nearly 25 years and was our longest-tenured employee. I named this the Clements Sunrise as a tribute to her and the sun rising on the next phase of her life.
Ingredients:
2 oz Vodka
1 oz Chambord (can sub any raspberry liquor)
4 oz Clementine Juice (can sub OJ)
2 oz Ginger Beer, Alcoholic or non, based on your preference
Garnish:
1 Clementine Wedge
1 Raspberry
1 Toothpick
Method:
Fill a collins or other tall glass with ice.
In a separate glass mix vodka and clementine juice. Pour over the ice in the collins glass.
Hold a spoon upside down and just touch the surface of the liquid. Gently pour the raspberry liquor down the spoon so that enters the liquid slowly and pools at the bottom of the glass.
Top with ginger beer. The entire drink should have a nice gradient.
Spear one clementine wedge and one raspberry with a toothpick and set atop the drink.
